About Newcastle Hardwood
The environment
At Newcastle Hardwood we are committed to both sustainability and protecting the environment.
We recognise that many hardwoods come from sensitive areas of the world and as such we make every effort to ensure all our suppliers conform to the ethical standards on hardwoods as set out by the Forestry Services Commission. We are aware that the wood has been sourced legally and with respect for the habitat from which it came.
This means we can be confident that any wood we supply will have been sourced legally and with responsibility to the habitat from which it came.
Because we understand wood, we are also able to advise our customers on the origins of each type of wood, allowing you to make informed decisions on any potential purchase.
Our business relies on a natural product and therefore we place sustainability at the core of everything we do. We will not knowingly sell any timber which is endangered. We refuse to sell timber from politically troubled regions of the world where people or animals might suffer as a consequence of our business.
Where ever possible, our timber is sourced from sustainable environments where young trees are replanted at a rate equal too, or greater than that of any tree felling. In this sense we believe we are promoting the positive benefits of using hardwoods by reinvesting in the environment and ensuring true sustainability.
And, we practice what we preach. At Newcastle Hardwood we recycle everything, turning off cuts into furniture and saw dust into briquettes for our heating. Nothing goes to waste!
